Who is ultimately responsible for the trainee's successful completion of the Detention Officer Certification Course?

The trainee holds the responsibility for their successful completion of the Detention Officer Certification Course primarily because they are the ones actively engaging with the course material, participating in training exercises, and demonstrating their knowledge and skills. A trainee must take initiative in learning, practicing techniques, and seeking help when needed to ensure mastery of the required competencies.

While the instructor, school director, and the NC Justice Academy play supportive and administrative roles in facilitating the training environment, the onus is ultimately on the trainee to study, participate, and demonstrate their capability to meet the standards set forth for certification. The instructor provides guidance and evaluation, and the school director oversees the program’s administration, but it is the trainee's effort and commitment that directly influence their success in completing the course.
